My Story
My story begins on an island, one of the most magnificent of the all Mediterranean sea: Sicily.
One day in the hot Sicilian summer of 1990, a blue-eyed baby girl was born in the city of Trapani ๐. According to the sources, that night I came into life mad and sweaty. I suppose I wasn’t the greatest fan of the heat then either ๐.
So little did I know at the time that I would spend so little in that marvellous island, bound to a wandering life, never able to settle down in one place for good, first for an obligation than for her own thirst for knowledge ๐งณ.
But first things first, I grew up between Sicily and Tuscany till 2005 when my parents decided it was time to settle down in the city of the Leaning Tower. There I attended the Liceo Classico and then the university ๐. Political Science and International Relations was certainly not my top choice but soon I learned to love it. So much so that after completing my BSc, I decided to stay and get an MSc in International Studies even though the city had already begun to grow cramped.
All that brings to 2015, the year when my life changed completely.ย
During the last year of my BA, I started learning and falling in love with the Spanish language. So, once I got the BA in my hands, I decided to leave for Seville (Spain) for an Erasmus + semester ๐ช๐ธ. That was my very first time away from my parents completely on my own in a foreign country and in a city where I had never ever been (if you want to know more about this story I wrote about here).
I was a bit concerned at first,ย I wonโt deny it. Then, as the months passed, I started to realize all that time alone was very much needed. For the first time in my life, I had the chance to be completely alone. No one waiting for me at home with a schedule and obligations to follow. I was the master of myself and my time at last.
A couple of weeks after my arrival, I was moving around Seville without hesitation. The city was already mine.
That was also the moment I realized I didnโt want to live in the city of the leaning tower nor in Italy anymore. I had had enough of the known. Henceforth, every day should have been devoted to the awareness of the unknown, aka stepping out of the comfort zone and know the world. That wasnโt the time where my wanderlust grew out, it was the time where I became aware of it.
Long story short: things went a bit different from what I expected by that time. Thatโs the beauty of life, right?
Before long, I came back to Italy
, met my better half
, tied the knotย
and in 2017 I landed in the land of flowers
, the Netherlands
. While living in the Low Countries, I visited 6 different countries
.
In 2018 life took us in the Mรกlaga Province
, Southern Spain. There my passion for Digital Marketing began
โ
, despite a 9-5 job (not related to DM) I hated with all my soul
. That year we visited 7 different countries
.
In 2019 I quit that obnoxious job and we finally step foot in the Emerald Isle. While living in Ireland, we have visited 7 different countries so far
(they would be more if not for Covid-19
). That was also the time when I decided I wanted to work seriously on my DM skills and translate it into my job
. So I did several online courses, two apprenticeships on Acadium and an MSc in Digital Marketing and E-Commerce.ย
After a year in Chicago, we had to move to Toronto, Canada, where we currently work and live.
